  29. In any case, version 192 is not the latest.  Version 6.1 is in Beta test,
  30. and does not have the problems you report (note that these problems came
  31. up because of changes in Linux *after* C-Kermit 6.0.192 was released):

  35. In a few days, I expect to be announcing C-Kermit 7.0 for public testing.
  36. It builds fine in all the latest releases of Red Hat, Slackware, etc.

  45. Nobody should be distributing "fixed" versions of Kermit except Columbia.
  46. Anybody who has fixes should send them in to us and not post them elsewhere,
  47. since then they take on a life of their own, and soon multiple incompatible
  48. versions begin to float around, which always come back to haunt us, sometimes
  49. as much as 10 years later.

  57. Right.  That's why we have new versions.  In the past, we needed to include
  58. kernel headers in order to get at high serial speeds, which nobody could
  59. live without.  Now high serial speeds are obtained in a natural way.
